Recorded live on September 15, 2026. Unscripted, so the transcript below is lightly cleaned up, not rewritten. Watch on YouTube.
The short version.
- Claude Code is Cowork, faster. Same skills, same connectors, nothing to reinstall. A friend told me to just talk to it like normal.
- Fable became my default. I ran the same tasks side by side in Fable 5.1 and Opus, and Fable finished in fewer tokens every time.
- Use it or lose it. The Fable pot resets weekly. Finish the week with some left over and you left it on the table.
- A free widget shows what is left. CodexBar (free, open source, Mac) shows session, weekly and Fable usage with a countdown to reset. Mine said I had 97 percent left with five days to go. Thanks to Derek Caldwell for the tip.

To a new edition of AI musings with Meryl. This is a live show where I just go on and share some of what I'm doing with AI, what I'm most excited about, not necessarily a build or tutorial, but just my quick live thoughts on what I'm using right now or what I'm most excited about in an AI. Very much for real estate agents. So, if you're you know, an AI enthusiast in another segment of the industry, you might not enjoy this, but for real estate, hopefully bringing some cutting-edge ideas on how to use AI in our real estate businesses. And what I'm currently most excited about is Claude Code. I am so embarrassed. I've already done a video on this and I just I needed to say it again because I just need to get the message across even stronger.
I resisted Claude Code for a really long time. I thought that it sounded hard and confusing and difficult to use. Felt like I wasn't smart enough to use it and that I was probably going to need to know how to read, you know, DOS-like scripts. I was going to need to know what all those app script things that I do actually mean, you know, and I was just the whole time I'm feeling like I'm probably not smart enough to use Claude Code. Then finally, a good friend of mine who I coached, Tony Greasing Mershell, he says, "Just talk to it like you do normal." And I go over and I tried to start using it and I'm like, "Oh my gosh, this is exactly like using Cowork.
Like it's really not if you're if you've already been using Claude Cowork, using Claude Code is basically the same, not any more difficult. Just talking to it, all your skills move over, all of your connectors move over. You don't have to like reinstall anything. You just click that little tab that says go to code and boom, you're now using Claude Code or you're talking to it just like you did Codex. You're not really using it any differently. I'm sorry, not Codex. Cowork. But the biggest difference is it is way faster and it is way more efficient with your usage. Like it can do everything in less time and with less waste. And speaking of less waste, I have really been using Fable 5 as my model for almost everything.
You know, they really warn against using Fable too much because what happens is, you know, your Fable usage comes out of a different pot. Excuse me. And once you run out, once you run out of Fable usage, then you're you're kind of forced to downgrade and only use Opus. So, at first I was being very conservative. I would only use Fable when I really needed to. And when they first had Fable 5, I used Fable 5 a couple of times and blew through my usage so fast. I was like, "I'm never touching Fable again. It's not worth it." But then when Fable 5.1 comes out, I tried to start using it for a few things and it was so fast and efficient, especially inside of Claude code.
And it was using so few tokens as it did it that I was like, "Oh my gosh, I think it's actually more efficient to use Fable 5.1 than it is to use Opus." And so I actually did a couple of like side-by-side tests where I would have Fable use where I would have Fable do a test and then I would have Opus do a task. And in every case that I tried Fable 5.1 did it in fewer tokens. So, that's my other little takeaway that I'm doing. I'm using Fable for most things until I'm out of usage. Now, one more shout-out. I have to give a shout-out to the most brilliant AI mind that I'm personally blessed enough to know, and that is the amazing Derek Caldwell.
He works with AI Marketing Academy and also runs a really awesome real estate team in out of I think it's well, it's near it's in Kentucky, but also they cover some of Cincinnati. Is it is it's not Louisville, I don't think. It's Lexington? Lexington? I'm sorry if I messed that up. But anyway, just Google him. If you if you got anyone moving to the Cincinnati area or Kentucky, just look him up and see if he covers that area. He's an AI genius. Anyway, he turned me on to this amazing new tool. I'm absolutely loving. I'm going to post a link to it in the chat. Hopefully, if I can figure out how to let it post it in the chat. And it is called CodexBar.
And it's like a little a little add-on that you can install onto your device and it will tell you how much of your usage you have used so far for your session, for your weekly limits, and in particularly how much of your Fable you have used so far cuz again that Fable usage comes out of a separate pot. And so I feel like a lot of times we're just like not using it at all and then and then we're losing it. Like whatever you don't use your Fable, you just don't get it at all. And so if you're if you're not using up your Fable, then it's like it's kind of like you're leaving money on the table, right? And so CodexBar lets you install like a little widget that's at the top of your screen.
You look at it and it tells you exactly how much Fable you have left until it resets next. My Fable resets on Sundays. So my next Fable reset is happening in 5 days and 16 hours and I have 97% of my Fable usage left in reserve. It and it also tells me that I'm currently 16% extra in reserve. So at the pace I'm currently using it, if I continue with this pace, I'll have Fable left over at the end of the week in 5 days and 16 hours. Now, of course, it's not a straight line. Sometimes I get on and I'll go crazy and I'll Fable for you know, a couple hours straight and I'll use a lot of the usage all in one big chunk. So that doesn't mean I'm not using it enough.
It just means right now I'm a little bit behind the pace. I don't know what my camera suddenly got all blurry. Sorry about that. I'll have to figure that out later. But anyway, that's that's my thoughts. Check out CodexBar. Again, I put a link to it in the chat. Cool little free add-on that you can put to see exactly how much usage, especially of Fable, you have left. Hope you found this info helpful, and I hope you all have a great day.
