The short version.
- Where to find it. In Claude chat or Cowork, open Scheduled and start a new task. Claude asks what you want done and when.
- Built-in starters. A daily briefing, inbox triage that drafts replies every morning at 8, and content ideas from your industry’s news.
- My hack: combine two. Every morning at 7, Claude drafts replies to the emails that need them and emails you your calendar.
- Then run it every two hours. Have it pick out the emails from real people, draft replies to those, and leave the junk alone. Watch your usage limits.
- In Claude Code, they are Routines. No starter ideas there, but you can just describe the one you want.

Talk about what's on my mind with AI that day. And today I this is not necessarily a new thing. Sometimes I try to bring new cutting-edge, hey what's the what's hot, what's new, what's the latest thing I'm trying. Today I'm actually going to share something that's been around it with the you know Claude for a while, but I find that it is massively underused even amongst those who are using AI a decent amount. And that is scheduled tasks or routines. Let me just share my screen with you all real quick and I will show you that this visually. I think it'll be a little better that way. So, when you come into Claude, right now I'm in Claude chat or Cowork, right?
And then this tab over here will take us to code. But when you're in chat or Cowork, you can come right here to scheduled tasks. And you can come in here and you can just say create a new task with Claude and it will just take you to a chat where you can say, "Hey, I want to create a scheduled task." And it's going to ask you to describe what kind of scheduled task you're looking to create. So, if there was some sort of you wanted a daily automation where you wanted it to every day on a schedule like at a certain time, you want it to check your email or you want it to you know check your Instagram or like what whatever you know thing that you feel like you would want to automate, jumping into these scheduled tasks is probably one of the best ways to do that.
But what I actually wanted to show you, check out how cool this is. Here's a hack that a lot of real agents I think could really use. When you come into these scheduled tasks, okay I've got a few up here that are running, but then down here these are these are just tasks that are built into Claude that you can add. So, if you'd like to receive a daily briefing that looks at your calendar and your email and your messages, how about this one? Inbox triage. Runs every day at 8:00 a.m., looks at all of the emails in your inbox and drafts replies to them for you so that you can just get in and check them out. How about content ideas? Checking the news in your industry and sharing ideas of what you could be doing content on.
So, all of these are like starters of scheduled tasks that you could create. And for me personally, I kind of like the idea of taking a daily briefing and an inbox triage and combining them. What if everyday Claude goes in at 7:00 a.m. Looks at all my emails, drafts replies to a bunch of the emails that need responses, and it looks at my calendar and sends me an email regarding what I have going on that day, right? Like I think you can combine those. With the inbox triage, I know a lot of real estate agents whose email and may maybe one of those real estate agents is sitting in my chair where email takes up too much of our time. We spend too much time on email.
I personally don't love the idea of it only running at 8:00 a.m. Why not run this thing four times a day, five times a day, 10 times a day, right? I mean, you've got your usage limits to keep in mind, but what if every email you got, Claude just drafted a reply? Well, we probably don't need to draft a reply to all the junk mail. So, maybe you could create a scheduled task as an example that looks at your email, determines which of the emails are from real people, and then drafts responses to those real people emails and leaves everything else alone. And it does that one, you know, every 2 hours. Right? That's an example of a scheduled task. So, if you've never built an automation before, this is where I would start.
Excuse me. Now, I happen to really love Claude Code. So, when you're in Claude Code, it's quite similar, you know, if you're coming into a new conversation, you come to routines. So, that's the only difference. In chat, It's called scheduled and then in code it's called routines. It's actually a small flaw frankly in the in the Claude ecosystem. ChatGPT has cleaned that up. So, if you're more of a ChatGPT user and you like Codex ChatGPT work in Codex, their scheduled tasks regardless of which side of the aisle you're on are more integrated. But the downside to the new routines in code is it doesn't give you ideas. It doesn't give you ideas of the of the routines that you could run.
It just shows you a list and then you can create new routines. But you do not necessarily have to let me stop my screen share real quick. You don't have to use one of those suggested ideas. If you have an idea of your own, you just go into a chat and say, "Hey, I want to create a scheduled task that runs every day at XYZ time and this is what I would like it to do. This is what I would like it to perform." the possibilities are endless. So, just think about like where are you spending too much time and what in there could be automated. Remember, if it can be automated, it will be. Hope you guys found this information helpful. Hope you have an amazing day and a powerful week.
