The short version.
- It is not harder than Cowork. In my experience it is easier. I had built up a story in my head and never even tried it.
- Nothing to reinstall. Same connectors, same MCPs, same skill files. You just switch tabs.
- Memory is vastly better. Your files and memory live on your own machine, so what Claude remembers from one conversation to the next improves a lot.
- Faster, and lighter on usage. It works through the Mac Terminal, gets things done faster, and cut my token usage noticeably.
- Thanks to two friends. Austin Nguyen and Tony Greising-Murschel kept nudging me until I gave it a shot.

And welcome to a new edition of AI musings with Meryl. This is just a quick live show where I go live and talk about some of just what I'm feeling and thinking and how I'm using AI right now. Not one of our builds. It's not an AI agent. If you're interested in seeing, you know, more of the work that we do for real estate agents and how we're trying to help real estate agents implement AI to build better efficiencies in their business, please visit christyjenks.com. This is just kind of a spot where people can hear kind of what's on my mind and what is the latest and greatest of kind of what I'm working on. By no means am I a thought leader in the AI space, but in the real estate world, I think we're making some waves.
We're trying to help real estate agents use AI better and so I wanted to kind of share a little bit more cutting edge. Oh, this is what I'm trying right now so that people who may be interested in wanting to implement faster and not have to wait a month for our next you know, AI agent to come out and who are wanting to jump in and start doing more of what I'm trying as I'm trying it. So, my current obsession with AI is Claude Code. So, there's actually a really funny story I have to tell about Claude Code first. So, with Claude Code, I stayed completely away from it for my first 6 months of using Claude. I actually just started adopting Claude Code about a month ago and I really need to shout out a couple of really important key friends that helped push me over the head over the edge.
Austin Newyn and Tony Greas- I'm probably going to pronounce his last name wrong, Greasing Michelle up in Boise, Idaho. Both of those guys are kind of some AI buddies of mine and they were like, "I can't believe you haven't used code yet. Just do it." And my excuse the whole time was I can barely get real estate agents to understand how to use Claude Code Work. I don't want to make it even more complex. Let's not move to code because it's already confusing and we're we can't get agents to, you know, understand skills and projects and connectors and MC, you know, how you know, Claude Code is even more complicated and scary and just the name of it sounds complicated and scary, right?
And so I was just like I'm not going to touch it with a 10-ft pole. I want to stay in space places that I can help real estate agents feel like simple. Trying to make AI simple and easy to implement. And anyway, long story short, they kept pushing me and nudging me and saying, "Oh my gosh, you got to try it. It's so much more powerful." And I'm like, "But I don't know how. I feel like I need to watch a YouTube video. I feel like I need to take some courses on how to use Claude Code." Like I was just I just had like a mind block. I wasn't even trying it. I wasn't even saying, "Hey, let's go in and explore." Because I had built up a story in my head.
Do you guys know anyone who's ever built up a story in their head about something? Is that someone sitting in your chair? Anyway, long story short, I give Claude Code a try and it is changing my life. I'm in Claude in general has changed my life, but Claude Code, you guys, is not any harder to use than Code Work. Matter of fact, in my mind, it's easier. It uses all the same connectors, all the same you know, kind of processes and MCPs and skill files and you know, all of those things. You don't even have to reinstall them. You just change tabs from Code Work to Code. But basically, when you're in Code, your computer and the files and the things that you're working on the Well, and here I'm going to go talking about Code when I barely understand it.
But from what I do understand, right? It's it's able to work on the off of the files and like the markdown things and a lot of the work that it creates is stored locally on your machine. So it doesn't have to go like hunting for as much information. All of the files from all of the separate conversations you've been having in code are stored on your own device. So, as you move from one conversation to the next, the memory between them appears to be vastly superior compared to Cowork. That's what I'm enjoying the most so far. My switch from Cowork to code massive bump in how much Claude remembers between conversations because of because of the way code kind of organizes and performs tasks differently.
The other thing that I'm enjoying with it tremendously is its improved efficiency. And again, we're getting into territory that I barely understand let alone know how to explain, but Claude code uses I'm on a Mac. There's this different program for it when you're on a PC, but when you're on a Mac, it uses a program called terminal. >> [snorts] >> it's a command line interface. It sort of looks like MS-DOS, right? Just a kind of a black box with like words in it. I don't quite know how to explain it and you can type in commands and your computer will perform functions based on those commands. Well, Claude code gives basically gives your code permission to just use that command line terminal that terminal interface on its own and is able to perform a lot of tasks really fast, really efficiently and is using much fewer tokens or much less of my total usage since switching to Claude code.
So, basically my experience so far and obviously I still have a lot to learn, but my experience in Claude code so far has been it's easier to use than Cowork. It does everything that we can do in Cowork, but better, faster, more efficiently, better memory, and fewer tokens. So, if you're like me and you've been holding out, and you haven't been trying code just because it sounds scary, maybe give it a shot today. Go jump Go jump in there and try something. And try to try something where you don't give it a ton of context and memory yet. You know, just see what it can just see what it already knows or remembers. I'm not sure how much the memory between Coda Work and Code.
I don't think those exist very well. So maybe you've got to build up the memory in code first. I'm not positive about that, but I've been using Coda Work for about a month now, and it's been I've been so impressed. I don't even use Coda Work anymore. So, go check it out. I hope you guys try it like it. Please share it with me. Let me know what you build and what you make with it.
